Indian Embassy and Hebrew University Celebrates First India Day

Ambassador Mr. Jaideep Sarkar spoke about India and Israel since the ancient days till the modern era, post-independence of both countries.

Embassy of India in Tel Aviv, and the East Asia Studies Department of the Hebrew University jointly organized the first "India Day" at the Hebrew University on 12 November 2014. Ambassador Mr. Jaideep Sarkar delivered the keynote address. In his address he drew parallels between India and Israel since the ancient days till the modern era, post-independence of both countries. He said that  future of the relationship between the two countries should be guided by science, innovation, research and education. Academic panels held discussions on various aspects of India like: business opportunities, environmental projects and traditional art forms of India. 

 

Musical performance by Benny Djubass (Sitar) and Daniel White (tabla) and bhartnaatyam performance by Anjana Shenoy gave a flavour of the Indian culture to the 150 odd participants. To top it all, traditional Indian  delicacies left an Indian taste among the appreciative audience.
