Israel keen on water management and energy cooperation with India
India can borrow from Israel's techniques of water management such as desalination and recycling: Mr. Daniel Carmon.

Newly appointed Ambassador of Israel to India Mr. Daniel Carmon recently asserted that agriculture will remain a pillar of Israel's cooperation with India beyond defence cooperation.


Mentioning that Israel is building Centres of Excellence in Agriculture and Horticulture in India, at least four of which will be set up in Maharashtra, Mr. Carmon said Isreal is now keen to partner with India in areas like water managmement and energy.


The Ambassador was speaking to the Governor of Maharashtra Mr. Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan. 


"Being a rain-defieint country itself, Israel has developed various techniques of water management including desalination and recycling. We can thus be a partner with India in these areas," he said.


He added that academic cooperation with India at the university level was also on the top of the agenda for Israel.


Welcoming the Ambassador to Maharashtra, the Governor told him that a large majority of farmers of India are appreciative of Israel's technology in farming.


He welcomed the assurance of the Ambassador to enhance cooperation with India in agriculture, water management and energy sectors.



Consul General of Israel in Mumbai Mr. David Akov was also present.
