"With the help of Israel technology, Maharathwada and Vidharbha will be drought free"

Israeli technology would be employed for water conservation and to make the state drought free, Rural Development and Water Resource Minster Pankaja Munde has said

Indian Rural Development and Water Resource, Minster Pankaja Munde, had a meeting with Israeli consul general in Mumbai David Akov, where they discussed various issues to find out the spheres of cooperation. The consul general has assured technical assistance and exchange of information in the field of agriculture and water harvesting, on behalf of Israel government. “Their micro-management of water is very impressive,” she said.

Maharathwada and Vidharbha have been facing recurring droughts from the last decade and tens of thousands farmers had committed suicide. Israel is three times smaller than that of Marathawada has almost similar agro-climatic conditions but has witnessed an agriculture and water revolution. They have come up with mutli prong approach – brought water harvesting technologies and developed crops that can sustain with minimum water. We intend to benefit out of their experience in this field", the minister said.

“Akov assured that they will share their agriculture experiment in the field of water harvesting and agriculture with minimum water with the state,” Munde said adding that “With the help of Israel technology, emphasis will be given on the water harvesting in the state. Our farmers will also harvest agriculture production like Israeli farmers.”
