Embassy of India organizes "Make In India" seminar in Tel Aviv
Ambassador invites Israeli business people to participate in the program

A seminar titled ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ was held in Tel Aviv on March 2, 2015. It was organised by the Embassy of India in Israel and featured a list of corporate and legal luminaries from India and Israel. A large gathering of Israeli business people attended the event.

H.E. Mr Jaideep Sarkar, Ambassador of India in Israel, made the opening remarks at the event, inviting Israeli companies to participate in the ‘MAKE IN INDIA' program. Dr. Anju Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission and Head of Commercial Wing, Embassy of India, moderated the seminar.

Mr. Suhaan Mukerji, Founding Partner, PLR Chambers – one of the co-partners of the event, and one of the foremost Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs lawyers in India, spoke about the incentives and manufacturing opportunities that India now offers.

This was followed by a Case Study of ‘Truphatek’ by Mr David Grey, CEO. Truphatek, an Israeli Medical Devices company that makes single-use and reusable anaesthesia medical devices, has been manufacturing its products in India for several years. The company has production units in Chandigarh, India, and employs over 160 people in its Indian branches.

Pelemex, an Israeli agri-based company, has been making coir-cocopeat substrate of Hydroponics growers and nurseries. The company has been active in India since 2010, making bales and growbags in Polachi, Tamil Nadu State. Mr. Oded Eytan, Pelemex’s Managing Director, presented his company’s good experience in India.

Mr. Adiya Prakash Rao, Counsel, PLR Chambers, spoke about India’s New Approaches to Investment, Intellectual Property and Training & Transfer of Technology. This was followed by a case study by Mr Ofer Gabinet, CEO, of Eli Hahaj that is engaged in providing Precision Machining Services, Aviation level CNC Machining and Milling and Electronic Packaging. The company carries out mechanical assemblies of end products, according to customer specifications. It serves to Aviation, Defense, Security and Medical equipment sectors. They have been manufacturing in India since 2012.  

Tower Jazz manufactures integrated circuits for more than 200 customers worldwide in growing markets such as consumer, automotive, medical, industrial, and aerospace & defense, among others. Active In India since 2010, in 2014 Tower Jazz won a government tender to set up a semiconductor wafer plant in India in cooperation with IBM Corp (USA) and Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (India), Mr. Erez Imberman, VP – Global Supply Chain & Special Projects of the company presented its experience in the Indian market.  

The presentations of the Israeli speakers covered the following aspects: How the company set up manufacturing facility in India; What business model the company adopted and why; Challenges faced by the Israeli company and how they addressed them; How current changes in policy are helping companies manufacture in India; Advice to Israeli companies.
