India’s Reliance Industries has chosen IDE to expand the country’s largest desalination plant

IDE wins Global Water Awards’ Desalination Plant of the Year for Sorek

Reliance Industries Ltd., India’s largest private sector enterprise, with businesses in the energy and materials value chain, has chosen IDE’s SWRO solution to expand India’s largest existing desalination plant.

IDE Technologies of Israel announced it has been named the Global Water Awards category winner of the Desalination Plant of the Year, Sorek, constructed in partnership with Hutchison Water International Holdings, is the world’s largest and most advanced seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant. This award recognizes the plant as the most impressive technical and ecologically sustainable achievement in the industry. IDE also received a distinction award in the category of Desalination Company of the Year – IDE earned the winning title in 2011.

IDE completed the 150-million cubic meter-a-year Sorek plant in 2013. In April 2014, it also began construction of 74.6 million cubic meter a year Carlsbad plant in San Diego, under a 30-year BOT contract.
