Two new Israeli Diplomats to soon assume office in Delhi and Mumbai

India will soon see the induction of two new high-ranking Diplomats – incoming Ambassador Hon’ble Daniel Carmon replaces outgoing Ambassador Hon’ble Alon Ushpiz, and incoming Consul General Hon’ble David Akov will replace outgoing Consul General at the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai Hon’ble Jonathan Miller.

 

Ambassador Daniel Carmon studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he was awarded a BA in International Relations. In 1973, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, where he served in the Communications Division, and then as a Section Head in the same department.

 

From 1978 to 1982 he served as Embassy Attaché in Washington, DC, and member of the Israeli Delegation to the Camp David peace talks (1978), and then returned to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem in 1983.

 

He was also Consul and Administrative Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, and then one as Deputy Chief of Mission there.

 

From 2005 to 2010, he served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative at Israel’s Mission to the United Nations in New York. In 2011, Ambassador Daniel Carmon was appointed Deputy Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of MASHAV – Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.

 

He therefore comes into his new position in New Delhi with a formidable background in diplomacy, commercial activities and administration in international cooperation.

 

David Akov, a native of Israel, joined Israel’s Ministry of External Affairs in 1985, and was Counsellor for congressional affairs for five year at the Embassy of Israel in Washington D.C. He also served at the Consulate of Israel in San Francisco.

 

He was later appointed Consul General of Israel for the Pacific North-West Region.  He will soon assume the office of Consul General of Israel in Mumbai.
