About BPC ACT (Automated Chemostat Treatment) ACT technology is a combination of a specially integrated “chemostat process” and advanced control system. ACT optimizes the bioremediation process by: • Using an optimal bacteria mix (young & with low concentration) • Applying online monitoring & control • Performing automatic “load balancing” (ACT Sequential mode) While most biological processes are based on sludge build-up (high MLSS), creating a multi-microorganisms environment with bacteria, algae, flagella, eukaryotes and more, the ACT process performs in a “Chemostat” process with low MLSS and contains solely bacteria. High MLSS bioremediation processes are more sensitive to toxic environment in relatively high concentrations while ACT treats a variety of these toxic materials (BTEX, MTBE, phenols and aromatic compounds and other industrial wastewater related organic residuals). A Chemostat works in relatively low bacterial concentration, there is low bacteria aggregate and therefore there is no issue with flocks break-up (as a result of high salinity) - ACT works efficiently in high salt concentration (up to 5% salts). ACT control system maintains the biomass under optimal conditions, allowing faster reaction to inlet fluctuations and accurate adjustments of “ACT Sequential Mode” integrated process. ACT integrated technology addresses some of the most difficult challenges currently faced in industrial wastewater treatments.
